
Vietnam has achieved two significant milestones in the shipbuilding industry. On December 26, 2024, in Hai Phong, Nam Trieu Company, under the Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (SBIC), delivered the Truong Minh Dream 01 cargo ship, the largest in Vietnam's history. The ship measures 199.99 meters in length, 32.26 meters in width, with a gross tonnage of 35,823 GT and a deadweight of 65,000 DWT. It is designed to international standards and capable of operating in all international waters. According to Baird Maritime, the vessel is considered a low-cost alternative for foreign markets.

Earlier, on December 18, 2024, Ha Long Shipbuilding Company successfully launched the Windcat Amsterdam offshore wind service vessel, the second of 14 ships ordered from the Netherlands. The vessel is over 88 meters long, has a gross tonnage of nearly 6,700 GT, and is powered by hydrogen engines, reducing environmental impact. Both Windpowernl and Sputnik highly praised the technological advancements of the ship, highlighting the growth of Vietnam's shipbuilding industry and affirming Vietnam's increasingly strong position in the international market
